Hedges
Certainly not all, but many of the hedges in Vancouver are Arborvitae, Laurel, Photinia, Boxwood or Privet. Hedges can be sheared almost any time of year to produce a uniform size and shape. When feeding the lawn, I feed the hedge, trees and shrubs as well. Here are some examples of Arborvitae, Laurel and Privet hedges.
Here are some examples, before and after.

This lot slopes, so the hedge can be trimmed to follow the slope...
...or can be stepped like this.
When trimming any hedge, including this Laurel...
Just drop it!it should be taken up off the ground as well.
This Arborvitae hedge is shorter on the left end because a tree shades it there.
So I start at the shortest point and make it even across the top from there.
When trimming any hedge, it's important to round the top corners,...
because it makes the hedge look more natural.
